Enduring Currents makes a parallel between the flowing of the nearby Mississippi River and the
unyielding resilience of the Near North Side's inhabitants. The river, a lifeline that has witnessed
centuries of change, symbolizes the constant and evolving spirit of the community. It embodies
fluidity and strength, qualities that are mirrored in the neighborhood's ability to withstand socio-
economic ebbs and flows while nurturing hopes and dreams across generations.
The three interconnected sculptures that weave across the site speak to enduring communal bonds,
shared struggles, and collective triumphs. They are a celebration of the community's perseverance,
rich multi-generational pride and heritage, and continued commitment to growth and unity.
