Architectural Mesh Banners [Budget 75k]
For my this installation I wanted to highlight and acknowledge the native environment of Port Everglades. My approach was to create a series of geometric illustrations that reflect the flora and fauna as well as the wildlife of the everglades in a bright, bold, inventive and playful manner. Abstracted hands are added to the composition, engaged in crafting the scene as if it were a stage set. This contributes an element of poetic whimsy to the image and suggests that much of our lives and the pleasure we derive are the result of carefully curating our experiences.

The illustrations refer to a variety of native plants and iconic birds; assets that can be scaled, reconfigured, and collaged in numerous ways. The idea was to extend flexibility to the overall design while maintaining a very clear and distinct visual language. This was done to allow for reconfigurations as necessary as well as to allow for them to be recreated at various other points throughout the site [Ticket Booths, etc] without repeating the designs.

Working with a visual library, rendered in infinitely scalable vector illustrations also allows for easily adjusting the color palette if necessary.

Ultimately the idea is to present a bold and striking vision that simultaneously reflects the site, community, and local environment but also invites inquiry, reflection and curiosity.
